Dream Fulfilled ; 6:17 PM

A dream is realized; Yeng Constantino, the 18-year-old aspiring star from Rizal, found her destiny as she was named the first-ever Grand Star Dreamer. She beat out 5 other co-scholars who also became her close friends in their stint in the Academy. Upon announcing her name, she was joined by the other students and faculty, who happily celebrated the birth of a new star.

The Grand Dream Night

“Ladies and Gentlemen, allow me to present the first-ever graduation ceremonies of the Pinoy Dream Academy!” Headmaster Jim kicked off the Grand Dream Night as the members of the Final Six entered the Araneta Coliseum one by one, to the whoops and cheers of their eager fans, and went up the stage to receive their diplomas.

Grand Dream Night host Toni Gonzaga then asked the members of the Final Six how they felt. As they expressed different reactions (Panky was speechless, while Yeng actually sang how she felt), Chad got the crowd going by shouting out a famous phrase: “LLLLLL-Let’s get ready to RUMBLE!!!!”

Different music personalities, who also served as jurors in the previous expulsion nights, periodically voiced their opinions on who they think will be named the Grand Star Dreamer. Hajji Alejandro studied the crowd and noted Yeng as the heavily-favored one, but quickly added that the Filipino music scene is in for a very bright future thanks to these scholars. Multi-awarded singer Dulce, on the other hand, highlighted the good qualities of each scholar.

The percentage of text votes for each scholar was periodically updated as well, and the competition was indeed tight; a mere 10% separated the lowest from the highest percentage. In fact, determining the winner based on text votes during the show was, as the old adage goes, rolling the dice. And for the first time, the actual number of text votes was shown, with more than two million overall!

The girls kicked off the performances with Irish, Yeng and Panky delivering a sizzling song and dance number that oozed sex appeal. Not to be outdone, the boys showed up with a heated performance of their own as well, sending their girl fans shrieking and swooning!

Headmaster Jim then took the stage again. Representing the faculty, he addressed all the scholars as “the new breed of musical talent,” and that they were happy to help them realize their dream. “Ang tagumpay niyo ay tagumpay din namin,” he noted. And like true caring mentors, the teachers joined the ex-scholars as they sang their original compositions. The Company even delivered a hilarious and ‘backbreaking’ retelling of their stint as teachers in the Academy!

The Honor List of Six soon returned. They showcased their voice range as they sang as duets; Jay-R and Yeng’s version of Rivermaya’s ‘Himala’ received the most applause and highlighted this spectacular segment of the Grand Dream Night.

The Top Three

Text and online voting was then stopped momentarily to pick out the top three. Panky and Jay-R were first up, with one of these cebuanos being named to the top three -- this turned out to be Jay-R. Panky ended her stint with a bang, rousing the crowd with rock band Queen’s ‘We Will Rock You’. She proudly exclaimed that she did her best at the biggest arena in the Philippines, and that thanks to the teachers and other scholars, “Nagbago na ako.”

Yeng and Irish stepped up next, and the kid from Rizal beat the Fil-American to the top three spot. Irish was joined by her family after her final song as she thanked her Filipino fans and thankfully said, in perfect Tagalog: “Salamat as pag-suporta sa isang taong hindi taga-dito!”

Ronnie beat Chad, earning the third and final slot. Chad sang ‘Love Story’, a sad Andy Williams song, but was beaming nonetheless. And, like a true class president, he revealed that he didn’t want to be in the top three for his co-scholars to succeed; he even passed class president duties to Ronnie in a funny gesture.

Soon after, voting was resumed for the top three as they performed one by one. Yeng was introduced by Jay-R as one of the great composers in the Academy, and rightfully so, she wooed the crowd with her own composition, ‘Ang Awitin’. After, Ronnie introduced Jay-R as the pride of Cebu, and the latter rocked the crowd with Rivermaya’s ‘Kisapmata’. Finally, after Yeng’s funny introduction (“Magaling siyang magluto at sumayaw… ay teka, magluto pala!”), Ronnie sang ‘Nais Ko’ to cap off the top three’s performances.

A Star is Born

Then came the final act. With 558,912 votes or 29.9%, Ronnie was named the Pinoy Dream Academy’s second runner-up. He thanked his supporters, saying: “Malayo ang mararating niyo… just believe.” The first runner-up turned out to be Jay-R, garnering 32.77% of the votes; naming Yeng the Grand Star Dreamer with 697,648 or 37.32% votes. She was speechless at first, but then thanked her fans, saying “Maabot niyo rin ang pangarap niyo!” as her own composition, the theme of the Pinoy Dream Academy, filled the Araneta Coliseum with the music of a true winner.

And so ends the first school term of the Pinoy Dream Academy. It took twenty aspiring scholars enduring joy and tears, sixteen weeks of relentless vocal training and exercise, six students reaching the Grand Dream Night; and finally, one scholar realizing her dream, flapping her newfound wings and soaring above the clouds to reach her star.

the rockstar

the rockstar's story: I'm Haryl harzie Acha. Born last All-Saints Day 1987. Proud to represent the Pearl of the Orient, the Philippines and the City of Smiles, Bacolod. I'm 5'5" in height.. Pinoy ako, pinoy tayo pero with Spanish-Chinese blood mix.... I am.. "makulit", sociable & spontaneous. I'm a very simple urban dub. Nothing special on me. I'm just your guy next door.. the upper-middle class guy! I'm a sane person but sometimes a real jackass! I always come up with wild & crazy stuff at the weirdest times. :: I do a lot of talking.. a talk that larded with jokes. Other people says I'm a really laid back person which I think is a good thing. I'm also a joker, though most of the times my friends find my jokes corny, but i still tell them. Still, sometimes I could be the most boring man on earth. :: I had this I-don't-give-a-damn attitude. I don't bother what other people say like doin' a backbite and insecure criticisms. Just know me first before you judge.. and judge me by my intentions not by my actions. I really care those humbly advices to me. :: I don't like breaking the laws.. even just for fun. :: I love clubbing. I know how to party and enjoy partying. Wherever the party is happening, I'll go. I'm absolutely in the mood for whatever the night holds. Dancing 'til dawn and party like there's no tomorrow. I just love everything from rollin' up in a pub, to dancing, to even jumpin' behind the deck from time to time.. It's really great when you're in a mob of party people doin' poppy cock talks with hot mommas.. Damn cool. And the sound system kicks ass and the crowd was going crazy. It gets me pumped! :: Music is my life besides my family and friends. I had no ambition to sing. But dammit, singing makes you feel good. hehehe.. :: I'm a couch potato. Everything is all out. So no matter what I get from chillin' at home on black leather couches for hours with my couch buddy fronting a boob tube or a night hangin out with friends.. its always the best time.. :: I'm a man full of adventure. I'm always willing to take chances. I do things mostly i can mosh to.. biking, driving, strolling, sports..anything under the sun. I'm not good enough on swimming but badminton is what I'm into. The best road trips are never planned..and that's fo' sure! :: I had also a kinky side.. a nutty nookie! hehe.. But I don't cat around.. and im not much in a place where the topless dancer spanks her female caddie. :: I'm on a drunken spree for many times and I always enjoyed to get a bun on before. Now, I totally cut out smoking and avoid binging on alcohol, especially drinks with carbonated mixers. I got limitations in drinking. I just hate it when i'm bagged and woozy.. and the slipshod hang over.. hehe.. and the worst to be eighty-six bcoz of drunkenness.. [still, i can't resist for sometimes.. haha].. I'm also a tear jerker.. mostly when im screwed or whenever someones crying or when im watching a drama tv show or movie. :: I has never smoked pot or done ecstacy. I don't really dabble with drugs. And I don't need some shit to settle my stomach. :: I had no piercing nor tattoo on mah body. :: I had much interest watching CSI, 24, Pamela Andersson on STACKED, Jeniffer Garner, Tony Hawk and Buckey Lasek on X Games.. They're all fearless.. And the backflip one..yes, that awesome! :: On dressing up, I wear anything. I can adapt to any style. I like simplicity. I don't believe in dressing the part. I used to wear worn out jeans, shirt & converse sneak. I can get away with wearing jeans to work because I never looks sloppy. A casual but tailored.. And what goes best of all with the outfit is attitude. Wearing a cap is also an excuse not to fix my hair. :: For sometimes, i go to a grogshop if i felt i'm really too grubby. Just can't help to be a raggamuffin bully. :: I like colors blue, green & white. :: On food, I do love to eat pasta, chicken, taco, lumpia, lasagna, bolgogi, kimchi, sushi, rice n' a box and lucky me pancit canton extra hot chili. I ususally eat with chopstick.. I'm a person who enjoys good food and drink.. a real good cuisine. :: On love, I'm romantic at heart. Although I do believe in just letting things happen. I am partial to good looks backed up with conversation. But physically, she has to have a nice booty. A classy booty. :: During my past schooling years, it's been a hard time for me since I found out I'd flunked a major subject.. I always mugged up during exam time.. a lot of pressures. :: I had plans to take up another course or just to have a master's degree. But for now I'm enjoying mah work and chillin out at night. :: I'm a INC, and go to church every Thursday & Sunday. :: I can cook an omelet and an instant pancit canton.. I do my own laundry.. :: I just hate pretense. :: I totally hate CLASSISM and DISCRIMINATION in all kinds [esp. on the basis of racial and social status]. Niggas in the hood do not appreciate that shit! Just don't let others feel they are discriminated, belittle 'em and to treat 'em with scorn if you don't like 'em. Don't be a snooty idiot if you don't want to be dump on too.. I'm a strong believer in karma. :: So, what else you don't know about me? You just even read my autobiography! Anyways, please add me in your cyber friends and thanx so much for those who accepted my invites.. I'm that nigga that you can always holla to.. Leave me a COMMENT.
